No Charge for Additional Time

When you book your event with Groove, you book us for the entire evening – not an hourly rate. We’ll set up our equipment before your guests arrive and won’t take it down until the lights come on at your venue.

In-Person Planning Consultations

We’ll meet with you in person to plan your dance exactly the way you want it. Every event is unique, so bring your ideas and music requests – and we won’t miss any of the details.

Event Planner and Song List

The event planner and song list is designed to organize your ideas and music tastes to give us a better idea of what you want. It covers your entire event – from social and dinner music to the last song of the night.

We’ll Handle Any Special Announcements

We can help guide the evening so that you and your guests will know and understand what is going on. This includes being seated for dinner, any specific music requests, and informing your guests of last call. We’ll also place a microphone at the head table so that you’ll be able to make your own speeches and announcements.

Our Groove packages start at $995. An additional charge may be applied for long-distance travel.

Uplighting is a great way to add depth and a personal touch to your event space. Uplighting is a technique used in lighting design to enhance the atmosphere of any given space. Uplights are light fixtures that are placed around a room on the floor next to a wall or column. The light is then beamed upward to give your event space a warm and elegant effect. You can transform any event space and give it an inviting glow, welcoming your guests inside.

Uplights are wireless so you can practically place them anywhere – without the need of an electrical outlet. You can even choose the color (s) to match your color scheme!

Gobo Projector

A gobo projector is a great way to personalize your event space. Gobo projectors beam a light down on the dancefloor or accent wall that displays your name, logo, or any other personalized message. Create your own “wow” factor by reserving your gobo projector today!

Ceremony Music

Are you having your ceremony at your reception venue or another location? We can provide everything you need to make your ceremony run perfectly! 

  1. Prelude music starts 15-30 minutes prior to your ceremony. This will be preselected music by either you or us. You can always let us know what type of music you prefer.
  2. Seating of the parents & grandparents. Wedding party comes down the aisle. There is usually one song played for this entire portion. This is typically a separate song from what the bride enters to – but on occasion, we have played the same song for everything, including the bride entrance.
  3. Bride comes down the aisle. In most cases, the bride chooses a specific song to walk down the aisle.
  4. Ceremony Begins. This lasts anywhere from 15-45 minutes. There is usually a song of choice played for either the unity candle lighting or sand ceremony.
  5. Conclusion of the ceremony. Bride and Groom are formally introduced and exit. The song played for this can be almost anything. It’s usually a favorite song from the bride and groom and can be upbeat if you choose.
  6. Post Ceremony music. When your recessional music begins, it is a cue for the guests to exit. This can be any type of music you choose.
  7. Please note that we are able to fade out songs to match the timing of your ceremony. The wedding ceremony package also includes (2) speakers that will be set-up on stands, a lapel wireless microphone that your officiant can wear, or a handheld wireless microphone with a stand.

Our most budget-friendly package that is great for smaller events! This package includes:

  • In-person planning consultation for your dance
  • (1) T-bar tree stand with lighting effects that go with the beat of the music
  • Wireless handheld microphone for toasts and speeches
  • (2) Powered QSC K12 speakers on stands
  • Social, dinner, and dance music until close
  • Professional DJ
  • Song list to choose your favorite music


Groove Supreme


Our most popular package! This package has everything the Delight package offers plus:

  • An additional T-bar tree stand (2 total) with lighting effects that go with the beat of the music
  • 18″ EV Powered subwoofer that adds low-end bass to your music


Groove Inferno


The best of everything! Recommended for larger events, the Inferno package includes everything listed in the Supreme package plus:

  • Gobo projector that will display your name on the dance floor or wall

Groove Xtreme


The real deal. Includes everything in the previous packages plus the following:

  • (8) Wireless uplights to be placed around the room. You can choose the color to match your theme!


Why should I choose Groove for my event?

We have been in business for over 20 years and bring a lot of experience to the DJ scene. We provide for our clients a fun and enjoyable dance experience while using state-of-the-art equipment. Our packages are competitively priced to meet the price point of every budget. We’ll work with you every step of the way to make sure your dance is everything you have envisioned it to be!

You advertise “Unlimited Time” Packages. What does that mean?

When you book your event with Groove, you book us for the entire evening (not an hourly rate). We set-up our equipment before guests arrive and play music until your event ends.

How do we go about selecting music for our event?

We offer an event planner and song list to help you select the types of music you would like to hear. Most people select a few favorites and then allow enough time for requests from their guests. We can always read the crowd and change it up if a song choice isn’t that popular.

When do you arrive to set-up? Do you charge a set-up fee?

We arrive a your event hall 2 hours before your guests arrive to make sure everything is set-up and ready to go. There is no set-up fee.

What do you wear to events?

We dress professionally and always dress to fit the occasion.

Will there be a microphone that I can use?

All of our packages have a wireless microphone that you can use for toasts, speeches, and any other announcements.

Do you take a break during the evening?

We do not take any breaks. You can expect uninterrupted continuous music all evening.

Will my guests be able to request music?

Yes. We are very approachable and will make sure your guests can request songs that they (and you) like.

Can I see my DJ perform before deciding to book them?

Please view our photo gallery for our most recent events. Because most of our events are private/invite only events, we do not allow observers.

Do you have back-up equipment on site in case something goes wrong?

We arrive early to set-up and complete a sound and light check before your guests arrive. All of our equipment is in cases, which protects it from getting damaged and malfunctioning. In the case something isn’t working correctly, we always have extra gear on site. We use high-end top-brand equipment which helps eliminate the chance something will go wrong.

What if I need to cancel after signing the contract?

For any reason you need to cancel your event, you have up to 30 days after signing the contract to get a complete refund. After 30 days, your deposit will be non-refundable.

Do you travel outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul area?

Yes, we play outside the Twin Cities area. An additional charge may be applied for travel 60+ miles outside the Twin Cities area and/or lodging.

What do I have to do to book Groove for my event?

We meet with most of our clients in-person to discuss all of the details for their special occasion. During this time, you can sign a contract and reserve your date. We also require a $200 down-payment made out to Groove. If you are unable to meet in person, we can send a contract via email or regular mail. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before your event.

Can we meet before our event?

Absolutely! We typically meet twice – one time to answer all of your questions and learn about our DJ business and one final time to discuss all of the details for your dance.

How can I find out if a date is available for my event?

From the Contact & Availability tab on the website, either email or call to see if your date is available.


Referral Program

For every referral you make that results in a successful booking, we will send you a $25 gift card as a token of our appreciation. Although weddings are our specialty, we also DJ other events such as holiday parties, retirement parties, birthday parties, and school dances. All events qualify for the referral program.
